Abtar

Right out of Rishikesh in the foothills of the Himalayas, Abtar has been practicing Yoga since he was 14. He has achieved a Gold Medal in the Team Event at the Indian University Yoga Championships and has vast Yoga teaching experience at True Yoga in Singapore and Malaysia. He was also a private Yoga instructor for a former Miss Malaysia.

Abtar holds Bachelor degrees in Botany and Geology and in Physical Education, a Masters in History and a Post Graduation in Yogic Sciences and is certified in Ayurvedic treatment, an ancient system of health care that is native to India. He has also obtained an International Teachers Training Course Certificate in Himalayan Yoga Meditation from the Swami Rama ashram.

His greatest inspiration comes from world famous Swami Rama and his own Guru, Swami Veda Bahrati. Abtar seeks to convey the spiritual and physical benefits of Yoga and to promote the benefits of Yoga for a healthy lifestyle option and as a system of natural healing. He tells his students that when you practice Yoga you have time to explore and get in tune with your body. You can feel when to stop and when to move into a posture. This non-competitive nature of Yoga is what makes Yoga different from any other form of exercise.

During his classes, Abtar likes to give a modern twist to the ancient Yoga heritage and make it appealing to everyone. Abtar has taught to both Eastern and Western audiences and takes great satisfaction in seeing his students advance in Yoga.

Abtar often travels to mountainous places where he says he finds inner peace and spirituality.
